a quick sketch with a portion of materials. Interiors and exteriors. Watery sounds and dry sounds. Animal sounds make quite a feature. In this sketch I have just quickly thrown together the files to see what happens (there are some mixing issues in this).
I’ve listened to everything really thoroughly and taken notes. I’m starting to develop a process for listening and documenting which is interesting. Looking at ways I can categorise sounds based on the material, not the content. In a hope that I can reach a more intimate understanding of the material in a nonrepresentational sense. As I’m currently discussing in chapter 2 of my exegesis, I believe that recorded sounds can never be truely representational because of sound’s reliance on technology to be mediated and listened to.
